The annual award ceremony took place at the CEDA (Catering Equipment Distributors Association) conference, Carden Park Hotel, Chester. The Grand Prix Awards provide recognition to distributors who have provided the very best in customer service and performed to the highest standards of the profession.
CHR Ltd beat off stiff competition from Contract Catering Equipment and Whitco Catering Equipment to win the Outstanding Customer Service Award for their work with Lancashire County Cricket Club.
THE GOLD marquee at Old Trafford Cricket Ground is a permanent structure, built to cater for up to 800 diners, while work takes place on a new £12 million conference and events centre.
Fuelling the stylish reception area is a unique, bespoke production kitchen created by CHR Ltd.
Talking about the new kitchen, Gordon Greig, catering and lodge general manager at Lancashire County Cricket Club, said: “It’s usual in these circumstances to hire a fully fitted portacabin, yet that proves a very expensive option especially as we already had equipment available from three kitchens in the old building.
“We have a strong working relationship with CHR Ltd and they created a very cost effective alternative solution, incorporating existing equipment to create a fully fitted temporary kitchen.
“Two portacabins were purchased and knocked through to make a long galley kitchen within the preparation area, attached to the Gold Marquee.”
The kitchen created by CHR Ltd was not only a significantly cheaper option, but Lancashire Country Cricket Club will also be able to continue to use it or sell it on once the new facility is up and running.
“We provided a fully fitted kitchen complete with dish wash area, that complies with all food hygiene regulations with built in units, extraction canapés and sealed and bonded flooring,” said CHR’s Paul Neville. “The rental costs of similar units are astronomical, this way the cricket club is able to create a fantastic kitchen that they can sell on or use elsewhere once the new conference and events facility is launched.”
Talking about CHR’s award, Peter Kay, CEDA Director, said: “This is a great example of thinking “outside the box”, literally!
The independent judging panel visited each shortlisted client and nominated project and were impressed by the strong working relationship between CHR Ltd and Lancashire Country Cricket Club.
“It was a huge project yet CHR’s attention to detail was evident as they project managed all aspects of the project to the highest food hygiene regulations.”
CHR Ltd also provides a comprehensive after sales service, working closely with Gordon and his catering team.
