Ffos Las, Britain’s newest horse racecourse, and Chepstow, home of the Welsh Grand National, have both awarded new contracts for all of the catering services at their racecourses to the Lindley Group. At the same time, Northants Cricket has entered into a five-year partnership agreement with Lindley to develop its conference and banqueting business as well as provide match day public and executive catering at the 5,000 capacity County Ground.
Ffos Las and Chepstow are both operated by The Northern Racing Group and have become the fourth and fifth course within the 10-venue Group to appoint Lindley to manage their catering businesses. Lindley also operates the catering services at Northern Racing’s Hereford, Bath and Great Yarmouth racecourses.
The eight-year, £5 million deal at the 15,000 capacity FFos Las racecourse will see Lindley using its catering and marketing skills to establish the Carmarthenshire racecourse as a premier destination for businesses, conference and exhibition organizers, and private parties looking for a superbly located and well-equipped venue to hold a variety of different events. Lindley will also provide public and hospitality catering for both national hunt and flat race meetings at the venue which incorporates the 150 seat Bridles Restaurant; a 450 guest VIP hospitality marquee; eight interlinked executive boxes which can cater for groups of up to 100 people; 600 acres of land which can be served by outdoor catering units; plus a range of public bars and cafés.
Over at Chepstow a new £5 million, five-year contract means Lindley will be responsible for catering for the 100,000 race-goers and VIP guests who attend the 29 flat and jump meetings held at the racecourse during the year, as well as providing a first class hospitality service for Chepstow’s flourishing conference, banqueting and wedding business.
Commenting on the appointment of Lindley, Jon Williams, General Manager at Ffos Las, says: “The Lindley Group have a reputation for being extremely competent sports venue caterers. They have already demonstrated their expertise at other racecourses within the Northern Racing Group, and we have the utmost confidence in their ability to deliver high quality catering for high numbers in a high pressure environment.”
Richard Holland, General Manager at Chepstow, adds: “The Lindley Group has established a good reputation within the Northern Racing Group and we know from first hand experience that Lindley has both the capability and commitment to deliver the quality of service we are looking to provide at Chepstow.”
The joint initiative with Northants Cricket is expected to generate a turnover of £3.5-£4 million during the five-year partnership agreement. The appointment also strengthens Lindley Group’s presence both in the cricketing world where it provides the catering services at Nottinghamshire CCC’s Trent Bridge and Essex CCC’s Ford County Ground, and also locally in Northampton as Lindley manages the catering at Northampton Saints RFU Franklin’s Gardens ground and at Northampton Town FC’s Sixfields Stadium.
Mark Tagg, Chief Executive of Northants Cricket, says: “We are very excited about the new catering and events joint venture the Lindley Group. Our combined expertise and the desire and opportunity for a great customer experience will ensure that visitors enjoy their first and every visit to the ground whether on a busy Twenty20 match day or for a Christmas party or wedding.”
