New stadium refurbishment earmarked to return value back to fans

A new range of award-winning branded food kiosks are scheduled to be located in and around the stadium for the start of the 2012/13 season. The improvements will be fully funded by the stadium’s event catering partner, Lindley Venue Catering – the sports stadia catering division of The Lindley Group – as part of a new three year deal with the club.

Initially launched in February this year, the branded retail concepts form part of a national drive by Lindley Venue Catering to improve the matchday experience at sports stadia by raising the quality, standard and presentation of food as well as improving the speed of service for fans.

The new outlets developed by Lindley include Flaming Good Burger™, Frank’s Original New York Streetdogs™ and The Pie Factory™. The changes are set to transform the matchday catering experience at the stadium, elevating it as one of the top sports and entertainment venues in the region. A significant investment has been committed by the catering specialists for the refurbishment of the new catering areas at Ashton Gate during the season break.

Bristol City FC CEO Guy Price said: “As part of a renewed catering deal, we wanted Lindley Catering to look at ways of improving the catering facilities for supporters at Ashton Gate. I want to make sure that we work continuously to improve the facilities and the value that we offer to supporters, staring with this coming season. I am delighted, looking at Lindley’s plans, that they’ve gone above and beyond what was asked of them.

“Not only will this new deal deliver great value back to fans, but we have worked hard with Lindley to reduce prices around the ground too. For example, the price of pies will drop from £3.50 to £3.00. At a time when money is tight for everyone, improvements to facilities and a reduction in prices will deliver even better value for supporters from next season onwards.

“Ashton Gate is already a leading venue in the South West. These improvements will make for an even better supporter experience, offering, the best possible value for money ahead of our 2012/13 Npower Championship campaign.”

The Lindley Group CEO, Adam Elliott, said: “Stadia public catering has long been Lindley’s core business and, with our substantial experience in this marketplace, we believe that we are in the best position to lead the field when it comes to enhancing the food experience of sports fans around the country.

“The quality and innovation that we have seen in branded retail food outlets on the high street, in mainstream visitor attractions and within other leisure venues hasn’t, until now, been evident in sports stadia.

“The aim of our new foodservice retail brands is to raise the bar in terms of quality and customer service.”

The club hope to have all improvements in place for the start of the 2012/13 season, when Bristol City take on Gillingham in the first round of the new Capital One Cup, at Ashton Gate on 14th August.
