Raised access flooring precluded the use of sheet material, while the high traffic levels called for exceptional durability. Gerflor’s Attraction fast track loose lay tiles fitted the bill perfectly and, consequently, over 800m² of the floorcovering was specified.
CityStore is sited within the Manchester City Stadium campus and occupies two floors accommodating merchandised retail space, a ticket office and a shirt printing area. With the store representing the face of the club, the long term durability and ease of maintenance offered by Attraction were overriding factors when it was proposed by flooring contractor Bramhall Flooring. Another important consideration was ensuring an appropriate aesthetic since the flooring had to complement the City colours of blue and white – dark grey 0278 ‘Heliconia’ was chosen.
Gerflor’s Attraction is a semi-flexible tile constructed by compacting at high temperature, a 4mm recycled backing and a 1mm pure PVC coloured wear layer which has a flecked design. To allow rapid loose lay installation and the flexibility to replace tiles without damaging the subfloor, Attraction has a unique dovetail joint. Maintenance is improved through a UV cured polyurethane (PUR) treatment applied to the surface. In addition, it benefits from Sanosol® fungicidal and antibacterial treatment.
Ian Dugdale, of Bramhall Flooring, comments: “Gerflor’s Attraction is a top of the range product and was, undoubtedly, ideal for CityStore because it met the requirement for very heavy wear, stability and the need for accessibility. There aren’t many products that offer clients the flexibility and quality look which Attraction provides.”
