Sixinch goes down under

luxxbox_metricon-seating_3As part of the A$144 million Metricon Stadium project in Brisbane, sixinch has supplied custom furniture for hospitality areas including seating for the members’ area, corporate boxes and the members’ VIP area.

An Decock, managing director of sixinch UK said: “We are very excited to see our furniture on the other side of the globe at the home of the Gold Coast SUNS football team.

“The bespoke furniture we supplied has been created in GC SUNS’ signature kit colours of red and yellow along with black furniture for the VIP rooms. Our durable FlexPlus™ coating was chosen for the furniture as it is long lasting, hard wearing and easy to clean.”

The interior design of the project was handled by Luxxbox of Queensland. Founder Jason Bird said: “We wanted to help the client create some unique seating elements for the more exclusive areas of the stadium. The client was really excited about the benefits foam coated furniture allowed in creating some striking angular sofas and ottomans in various dimensions.

“The interior of the Metricon stadium has been built to withstand the high-energy crowd that sports events often attract while keeping a high design factor look and feel.”

luxxbox_metricon-seating_4Designed by stadium architects Populous – which has offices worldwide including London and Brisbane – the Metricon stadium is a prominent new sports facility that currently seats 25,000 people. It has an Australian Football League oval that is also capable of holding ICC cricket matches, concerts, festivals, IAAF athletics events and FIFA World Cup matches.
